2020 Stories: Bill Badke
2020 has been a strange year! We asked the staff and faculty at ACTS Seminaries a few questions about their experiences and how they’ve seen God working during this time (as well as a few questions just for fun). Here’s Bill Badke’s story:
Position at ACTS Seminaries:
Librarian
Q. When did it first hit home that 2020 was about to change dramatically? How was the initial adjustment?
March. The transition was not significantly difficult, since the library was already well set up for remote service, and I had a home office, where I am now working. I did replace an aging computer at home with a very powerful one.
Q. What is one thing you learned about yourself in going through quarantine?
That I can work from home without falling into the blues. Interaction doesn’t always have to be face to face.
Q. What scripture has been the most encouraging to you during this year?
Psalm 4
Q. What’s the best movie you’ve watched or book you’ve read during the quarantine?
Contagion (my morbid side coming out).
Q. What is one of the funnier things that has happened to you during 2020?
I was able to watch a little kid glide down the slightly inclined street in front of my office, on his stomach on a skateboard (also frightening).
Q. What are some additional resources you’ve been turning to during this time? (Podcasts, books, magazines, music, etc.)
Too much Netflix. I have also listened to multiple amazing concerts on YouTube while I work (Second Chapter of Acts, Norah Jones, and so on).
Q. Knowing what you know now, if you could tell yourself one thing on January 1, 2020, what would it be?
Be prepared for your life to change dramatically at any time. Life changes, God doesn’t.
